With the objective of attracting younger audiences to LA NACION, we used machine learning, natural language processing, Spotify's API, and lyrics to analyze 692 songs and explore the topics, trends, and messages of Argentinian trap music. The main goal was to leverage AI to demystify the concepts surrounding the genre and understand what these popular artists are conveying to younger generations.
My role
As the product owner of the project, I was responsible for defining the research scope, coordinating the development of machine learning models, and ensuring the insights were effectively communicated to our audience.
Impact
The project was featured prominently in LA NACION’s digital platforms and received significant attention from both readers and industry professionals. It received the Best Digital Journalism Project award from WAN-IFRA and was featured by the Reuters Institute, Latam Journalism Review, and LA NACION's AI television event.
